Planning: Mis-En-Scene: Casting

Ellie is a 16 year old student. She enjoy playing the Tuba and partying.

the part of Ellie will be played by Rachel. Rachel is a good choice for this role because she is comfortable in front of the camera and is well suited for this character.
Jenny is a 17 year old student. She enjoys singing and writing.

The part of Jenny will be played by Taylor. Taylor is a good choice for this role because she is used to being in front of the camera and is very dramatic.

Planning: Mise-En-Scene: Location Planning

This is the first shot of our story which is an establishing shot of the exterior shot of the school.

When scouting for the location we found that the outside of the school would set the scene.

This location is easily assailable and will clearly show the audience the purpose of the scene.

This is shot 2 of our storyboard which is an low angel shot showing the interior shot of the stair well.

When scouting for the location we found that this would set the scene when movement is involved.

This location is easily assailable and will clearly show the audience our message across but we will have to make sure we do it when it is not busy nor crowded.

This is shot 3 of our storyboard which is a establishing shot showing the interior shot of the corridor.

When scouting for the location we found that this would the scene of walking to the room so it will set the scene for the audience to follow.

This location is easily assailable and will clearly show the audience the context of this scene.
This is shot 4 of our storyboard which is a long shot showing the interior shot if the common room which will be the room where to dialogue is exchanged.

When scouting for the location we found that this scene would set the scene because this is a common place for students to be so the scene will feel more realistic.

this location is easily assailable and will clearly set the scene for the audience, we will have to get this scene when there is no other people in there so it matches up to our storyboard.

Preliminary Task: Creating A Story From Initial Ideas

Myself and my group decided that our preliminary task will be set in a school and because 2 in my group will be characters in the task we chose to play sixth form students. As it is set in school we chose to start our story board with an establishing shot. This sets the scene. We had to make this storyboard using 12 shots and we were give the task of the 12 shot challenge.
This is our storyboard.

In this lesson i learnt that creating a storyboard gives you a clearer picture and vision of what the final product will look like.

Foundation Portfolio: What Is It?

50% of your grade will be earned through your Foundation Portfolio. This consists of a preliminary task and a main task, the details of which can be found below.

The Preliminary Task is designed to illustrate the processes of pre-production, production and post-production that will be required, albeit in more detail, when you come to undertake the Main Task. The Preliminary Task is not marked but MUST be completed and submitted alongside the Main Task to the examiner. If it is not completed, marks are deducted from your Main Task.

The Main Task is marked out of 100. These marks are broken down as follows:

20 marks - Research into similar media products and planning of your own media product.
60 marks - Construction of your own media product including filiming and editing.
20 marks - Evaluation of your own media product.

All of your work must be posted to your blog as this will be accessed by the examiner in May of 2016.

For each of the criteria above, marks are available in 4 levels with level 4 being the highest.

The progress thermometer below shows the key words for each level of the mark scheme.

This is what you have to do:

Preliminary Exercise
Continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180-degree rule.
Main Task
The titles and opening of a new teen horror film, to last a maximum of two minutes.
All video and audio material must be original, produced by the candidate(s), with the exception of music or audio effects from a copyright-free source. Both preliminary and main tasks must be completed as a group. Maximum four members to a group.

Me As A Consumer Of The Media

As a consumer of the media I use the internet the most. Social media is a big part of why i use the internet. I use it for Facebook, instagram and snapchat so i can speak to people other than messaging them and keeping up to date with celebrities and friends which i do this on instagram.
the internet is also useful because instead of watching tv or reading the newspaper for the latest news i can find out on the web page of The Sun newspaper. You can find the webpage by CLICKING HERE
I also use the internet to watch films and tv episodes on netflix. The internet is a better way to what tv episodes especially american tv because english television doesn't show re runs of gossip girls, pretty little liars, prison break etc.
Youtube uses the internet which you can watch videos, music videos, films and short clips on. I like to use it to watch a man called Ben Phillips who pranks his brother.
